Day Five - Thursday
What a day we had today!! This morning we all worked on a service project and took a bag of goodies to a local firefighter station. This particular station is the one that services Walker park so it was really neat to get to thank them for all they do for the community we are working in.
This afternoon we had our time at the park like usual and had a wonderful lesson on trust and how we can trust God no matter what we are going through and how He is the only one that does not let us down. We played the trust game with the kids and they loved it!
Tonight was our block party for all the kids and families that live in our neighborhood. We had a bouncy house, animal balloon making, face painting, finger nail painting, and a color hair spraying station. We also had a man from a Christian weight-lifting group come out and do a demonstration for the kids. He did awesome things like break bats, split five cinder blocks with one arm, and fold a frying pan, but the coolest thing he did was share the gospel with the kids. At the end of his demonstration, he prayed a prayer of salvation and afterwards asked if anyone had accepted Christ and would claim Him and on the count of three almost eight people raised their hands!! Kids and adults! All glory and praise to God.
As we go into tomorrow, please pray that God gives us clear direction on how to follow up with the kids who raised their hands tonight. The last thing we want to do is miss an opportunity with a child that God was calling our attention to. Pray that we are energized, alert, and focused on sharing the good news that brings hope and restoration to a hurting and dark world. As you pray, we are praying along with you, asking boldly for receptive hearts and eyes to be opened because we know that understanding can only come from God.
