As we pulled up to the park, we had only expected what we heard. The kids immediately ran up to the van, and one child even opened the door of the van with a welcoming face. Many of the kids at the park had recognized Scott and Zane from the previous year, which was pretty cool.
Scott had told us prior to leaving for the park that storytelling/craft time would be like marbles. This was the perfect analogy in which trying to pull the kids together was difficult. Several were very eager to learn about the story and participate in craft time where as others just wanted to go out and play. This time may not have gone as smoothly as we wanted to, but unforgettable relationships were built, even on the first day.
