Fall Festival at Mountain View
Fall is a wonderful time of year. The weather is just right, the leaves change displaying their beauty for all to see. There are pumpkin spice lattes and corn mazes! If your house is like mine, every Saturday becomes devoted to college football and every Sunday afternoon to NFL games. Yet, we can get so busy during this time of year! Before we know it, winter has come, and we hide away in our homes for the next 4 months.
We wanted to take advantage of the wonderful fall season and take time to celebrate families and fun! Last Friday over 120 volunteers from both GFC and Mountain View Elementary came together for our 3rd Fall Festival. It was a cool evening, but there was hot chocolate, popcorn, and fun to keep everyone going. Over 500 people came out to enjoy a night of family fun. Kids got to participate in a number of carnival games to win prizes and candy. There were other fun activities like pumpkin bowling and a dunk tank! Mountain View's very own Vice Principal, Mr. Simmons, braved the cold to be dunked by countless students.
GFC also teamed up with Frontier Health to invite community resources to the Festival for families to connect with. Doe River Gorge, Habitat for Humanity, Coalition for Kids, and other community friends showed up with a game of their own as they connected with families. Frontier Health also put on a raffle drawing with some incredible prizes. One family walked away with a $100 gift card to Just Jump!
The goal of the night was simply to create a fun environment for families to come and enjoy each other. The laughter heard and the smiles evident on everyone's faces made it clear that this goal was reached. It was such a blessing for GFC and Mountain View volunteers alike to come together to love on the kids and families that we all care dearly about.
Check out the pictures below and get just a small glimpse of the fun all our families and volunteers experienced!
