No Matter Our Age

I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve the Student Ministry at Grace Fellowship Church! It is such a blessing to watch students grow in their faith over the 6 years of Middle School and High School . Morgan Sell, one of our graduating seniors, took a moment to reminisce on her experience in Grace Students and wrote down some of her thoughts to share with us:

No matter our age, we are all human. We laugh, we complain, we rejoice, we fear, and we sin. As God’s creation, we carry a load of emotion and face our days with anticipation of the “best” and the “worst”, yet knowing that God’s will is underway. In no way do I mean this negatively; it is beautiful! The way our Heavenly Father constructs our daily schedules is mind-boggling! In fact, it is so intensely woven, that He included the ability to form relationships in such a way that accountability is crucial and stabilizing. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says, “Two are better than one, because they have good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him – a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Comfort, foundation, and control are all things that we strive for as children of God, and are all things God has provided through my small group experience at Grace Fellowship. As a senior about to move into a world of new people and experiences, I cling to the lessons and love I have gathered since my first Wednesday night of my sophomore year. I have had leaders listen to my teenage, hormonal tears about both silliness and trauma, as well as my exploding laughter directed at nothing in particular beyond the joy of the Holy Spirit that fuels fellowship and compassion.

Beyond even this, nothing but willingness and understanding is what I’m always encased with when I call for help. Over the years, my relationships with both fellow students and leaders have intensified to the point that it transcends beyond Wednesday nights. Whether it be through outside bible studies or extra prayers and pick-me-ups throughout the week. Undoubtedly, my high school years have been stead-fasted by God’s grace and love, and his supplement of accountability. Knowing that as humans we are equal in God’s eyes, I can only hope that my impact on my leaders has been as empowering as theirs on me.

As you can read, the journey of a student is filled with many high and low experiences and emotions. We want to invite you to join us in serving the students of GFC. We would love for you to join us this Sunday, April 21st, at 9:45am for our Student Ministry Preview as we share the vision of Grace Students as well as the many ways you can serve. Go here to RSVP! If you are unable to join us, but are still interested in learning about how you can get involved, please email Ashlee White.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support!
