This past weekend during our ECHO Celebration, Lead Pastor Tom Oyler lead us in a blessing over our community. His words rang out with power and insight over Founders Park and the hundreds of people gathered beneath the beautiful blue sky. We wanted to share those words with you:
Lord, we acknowledge that we are a blessed community and we give You thanks.
But we also ask for Your blessing for we are more broken and in greater need than we know.
Would You bless our community leaders with wisdom, insight, and righteousness? Uphold them and grant them endurance and encouragement.
For the men and women who protect us from ourselves and serve us in times of need; law-enforcement, fire fighters, first responders and our military, may they find strength and comfort in the reality that they are doing a good work. In their weariness grant them strength and may they find in our community a grateful public. In danger, may they summon courage and bless them with Your providential care.
For families, including broken ones, may parents, children, and neighbors have wisdom, humility and grace. Bless our families with recovery, reconciliation and renewal.
For the addicted, abused, and afflicted, may Your light show up in the darkness…heal our people from the inside out and bless with perseverance and patience those who are seeking to offer help and hope.
School begins this week, and we ask that parents, teachers, administrators seek to be a blessing to the students. May they teach them well and treat all with respect and dignity. Bless our students with a spirit of submission to those in authority, and kindness toward one another.
We live today in midst of deep division and disagreement, fear and frustration. Would You bless us with the grace, humility, and true compassion that only comes from You?
And Lord, may we all know that we have been blessed to be a blessing to someone else, including YOU! May we remember that it IS, in the words Jesus, “it is more blessed to give than to receive!”
Lord, we want to be an ECHO!
Now may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of Holy Spirit be with you now and forever.
