building a community to reach a community

Serving in His Court Together

GFC has been the most influential church in my Christian life since I started attending in 1993.

I was a very young Christian when I relocated to East Tennessee in 1991 to attend graduate school and coach tennis at East Tennessee State University. I grew up in a Reform Jewish home, and came to believe in Jesus as my Messiah in 1987.

After moving to the Tri Cities, I attended a local church where I was one of only a few ‘twenty-somethings.’ A friend who knew I desired community with people my own age invited me to GFC. And what a blessing!

It was here God prepared me for full-time vocational ministry. It was from here that I was sent on two missionary journeys lasting a little over eight years. It was here I had the privilege of serving on the GFC staff for four years. And it was here, at Grace Fellowship Church, that I have had the privilege of serving in His court together.

Let me explain.

In September 2013 my wife Lori and I began Larry Stamm Ministries, a non-profit ministry that exists to make the gospel of Jesus a confident topic of conversation for every Christian.

We provide coaching and classes that help believers more confidently and effectively share Jesus. We also teach the Jewish Roots of the Christian faith that connect the dots between the Old and New Testaments and strengthen people’s understanding of the gospel.

Another way we are serving God’s people is through my newly published book entitled, Serving in His Court: Biblical Principles For Personal Evangelism From The Heart Of A Coach. I was a professional tennis coach for 14 years and in this book, I use the sport of tennis as a metaphor for intentional witnessing in the marketplace– the marketplace defined as anywhere outside the walls of a church building. The book is available in the Resource Center located outside the GFC Auditorium or at larrystamm.org.

I am a product of marketplace evangelism. You see, in my journey to faith, I never once entered the walls of a church building, listened to Christian radio, watched Christian TV, attended a bible study, talked to a pastor or attended a Christian concert. Rather, it was individual believers, just like you, that God used in the marketplace to share the gospel with me and bring me to Himself!

In the book I use the tennis court as a picture of our world and you and I as servants (players) on the team (His Church). We are called to be witnesses of our King Jesus to the very ends of the world (the Court). I pray He would use this book in a mighty way in helping His people fulfill the Great Commission.

Lori and I would like to invite you to attend our Book Launch Party at Summit Leadership Foundation (304 Hanover Dr.) in Johnson City on Friday, November 14, from 6:30-8pm. Please join us to celebrate!

I’m grateful for GFC’s investment in my life and look forward to what God will do as we continue serving in His court together.

Hi, Larry
The Arab and Jewish Christians in Israel are on my heart. Can you help me with contact information for any of them or for other American Christians who reach out to them?
Thanks,
Nancy Ross (Cal's wife)
