GFC has recently hired Amy Fulkerson as the new part-time Outreach Events Coordinator. We've asked her to introduce herself here so we can get to know her better!
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
When asked to write my story, the question was; "Where do I start?" I began with the bible verse above because writing about myself, an introvert, can be overwhelming, even terrifying. Not long ago our pastor asked us to do something that makes us afraid, to step out of our comfort zone. Three days later I found myself sitting beside him in a staff meeting waiting for my new employee introduction - out of my comfort zone.
Beginning a new job is exciting! But, at the same time it can be scary. It requires you to take a new path, to start over, to learn new things – even the smallest things, from learning how to use the copier to the postage meter. It requires change and change isn’t always comfortable.
But, what an opportunity! An opportunity I know was a gift from God -to serve as a coordinator of such extraordinary events!
ECHO – Echoing God’s love in our community by serving on projects at schools & organizations, by using our hands and hearts.
Joy Prom – A night of celebration, where Joy resides and is highly contagious! An event born out of our Access Ministry, we celebrate individuals with special needs, bringing them joy with a night that is fun-filled and forever remembered.
Giving Depot - “It is better to give than receive” Working together with Rise Up And Mountain View School is an opportunity of generosity for children to purchase gifts for their family and an amazing opportunity for us to demonstrate the love of Christ during the Christmas season.
Planning and organizing events are gifts God has given me and my hope is to serve Him in a way this His light will shine through me. Being on this ultimate journey, changing and being used by Christ – yes it can be uncomfortable at times, but the joy of knowing I’m growing by serving Him is indescribable!
Even though I find myself in a new role of serving Him, I’ve felt my personal relationship has strengthened by serving over the years. When Ralph & I first came to Grace Fellowship Church seven years ago, it was truly a change. My first thoughts were – it’s so big, because we were coming from a small church. We remember those moments of being out of our comfort zone – it was scary, yet at the same time we found comfort in the warmth from the individuals that were serving and greeting us each week, and that’s why you’ll find us most Sundays serving in hospitality.
Yes, writing a story is out of my comfort zone, but writing about how God has worked in my life, words flow from a grateful heart. Thankful for the many blessings, including this opportunity, which I believe without a doubt could only be from Him.
