Monday Memo - January 27

How appropriate for Rob to talk about what it means to “rejoice in the Lord” in the midst of this weather! Isn’t it amazing how little it takes to move us away from our only source of joy? Recently it seems that I am receiving consistent reminders of this in my own life. I do wander. I allow so many ‘things’ to get between me and the Lord! How can I tell? Just ask others around me...or if you could, see inside my heart and mind.

One thing I need to be convinced of daily is that my fellowship with God is worth more to me than anything else. By fellowship I refer to an attitude, a focus, a mindset, that fixes me upon my need of Him and provides a sensitivity to “lesser things” that I allow to preoccupy me. Why can’t I get it? Nothing that I can have, no one I can be with, no activity or accomplishment I can do, compares to the surpassing value of knowing Christ! Over the next couple weeks, we progress into Philippians 3 on this very subject. I hope you can literally get out and come together for some significant interaction with God and with each other this weekend. You can find a Looking Ahead Bible Study Guide below.

With all the schedule changes going on, let me remind the men that this Saturday could be a day that would limit the number of regrets you will have as you continue making your way through life. It’s simply called NO REGRETS. I know, Saturdays are gold. But this is a once a year event that we believe not only unites men together, but speaks to the reality of lives and to what matters most. You can find out more by visiting the Grace Men webpage. With the “freeze out” last weekend, it is important that you sign up by the end of the day Thursday so that we can have plenty of food, snacks, etc! It will get you in the mood for the Super Bowl!

Looking forward to a great weekend together!

Grace and peace,
