Monday Memo - March 30
It was a joy to wrap up our series on the life of David with you yesterday. I hope that it's been as valuable for you as it has been for me! We tend to have a bad habit of moving on quickly, jumping right into what's next. But I want to invite you to pause and reflect on what God has taught you through the life of David.
As we talked about yesterday, we are all under construction. God is continually pursuing our transformation. Many of you seemed to resonate with this quote by C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity.
"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself."
We're never done being remodeled - not in this life. But "He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). How is God at work in you?
(Reminder that if you'd like to post a lesson that God taught you through the series, here's the link.)
We look forward to seeing you this weekend! Our service times are 6:00 pm on Saturday and 8:00, 9:15, and 11:00 am on Sunday.
It's a blessing to walk alongside you in this complicated life.
