Monday Memo - March 31
Well, here goes. I know you all have been waiting, and waiting. Wait no longer.
WE ARE GRANDPARENTS! Her name is Abbie, born Saturday night around 11:30, one week early! Give me credit for not saying anything publicly Sunday morning! She weighs 6 lbs 12 oz and stretches out to a full 18.” Click here to see the most beautiful baby ever born!
Our family life has had some “hits” over the last 10 years. How gracious of God to allow us the reality of this new life. Leslie and I thank you for being so supportive and encouraging to us! We will try not to be too obnoxious about all of this!
Yesterday, we had an adult conversation about “the matter of giving and receiving.” (Philippians 4:15) How honored to share this conversation with you! How humbling is it to sit together under the divinely inspired words of Paul and the encouraging example of the Philippians.
As you know, we have an opportunity to engage in this “gracious work” (2 Corinthians 8:6-7) of giving this Sunday. Operation Cooperation is a work we are engaging in together to serve and encourage the Mountain View community over the next several months. We will provide a dynamic summer camp experience for Grace and Mountain View kids, backpacks of food for summer school kids in the Johnson City School system and for Mountain View kids every other Friday throughout the 2014-15 school year. In addition, we will make weekly distributions to the families of the Mountain View community all summer. There will be lots of opportunities for us to volunteer our time to Operation Cooperation as well.
Our estimated need is $50,000. Sunday we will have the opportunity to make our gifts to Operation Cooperation in a unique offering. Everything that is given or pledged will be used for outreach into Mountain View. I look forward to sharing in the matter of giving and receiving with you, and enjoying the fruit that will come as a result!
Grace and peace,
