Monday Memo - May 25
We believe in...
The only true God, the almighty Creator of all things,
existing eternally in three persons,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The unique divine inspiration,
and authority of the Bible.
The dignity and brokenness of all people,
created in God's image to live in love and holiness,
but alienated from God and each other because of our sin and guilt,
and justly subject to God's wrath.
Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine,
who lived a perfect life,
who took upon Himself the judgment due sinners on the cross,
and who was bodily raised from the dead
and ascended as Savior and Lord.
which is a free gift given immediately and permanently to all who, wholly apart from any works,
put their faith in Jesus Christ alone.
The Holy Spirit,
who indwells each believer at the moment of faith
in order to glorify Christ by changing and using us
for the building up of the church.
There are two more to come. This is a concise telling of what we believe at GFC. I hope you have been able to catch most of the messages over the last 6 weeks. After the final one on what we believe about the future on June 7th, I will send a complete copy to you, including relevant Scripture. For me it is an absolute joy to be a part of a church that takes what we believe seriously, and seeks to live it out!
I am mindful today of the price that has been paid for us to be able to speak of what we believe freely, and without government interference in this great country of ours. Some of you have had relatives die in the service our country. We remember with you today. Let's be serious about praying for our leaders, and involving ourselves wherever and however we can to help preserve this land of liberty!
