Monday Memo - May 27

Cancer is so limited...

it cannot cripple love,

it cannot shatter hope,

it cannot corrode faith,

it cannot eat away peace,

it cannot destroy confidence,

it cannot kill friendship,

it cannot shut out memories,

it cannot silence courage,

it cannot invade the soul,

it cannot reduce eternal life,

it cannot quench the Spirit,

it cannot lessen the power of the resurrection.

I was asked to share these lines with you Sunday after the message I Have a Friend ...who is Dying. I hope you or someone you know will benefit from them. Fact is, we are all dying. Our fallen humanity guarantees it. It is the earthly end of every man. (Ecclesiastes 7:2) Death is both an enemy and a friend. It comes in uncertain and varied ways. Grieving is normal; comfort is needed. And perhaps most real is that without Christ, we are already dead-cut off from God, without hope.

It seems everything always points Christ. He, He alone, provides perspective, endurance, and hope. Let's celebrate and remember that Christ DIED FOR US!

Since everyone is dying, this is a message that everyone needs! If you missed the message Sunday, you can catch it "right here." It may be one you will want to share with your "friends and family."

This Sunday I will be speaking on I Have a Friend Who...Wants to Know Why.

P.S. Did you know you can go to our website and sign up for online, automated giving? It is a great way to make sure your giving is consistent and provides your church with resources during traditional "down times" like the summer.

Grace and peace,

Tom Oyler
