I have been thinking about the variety of situations and opportunities that we each encounter as we scatter throughout our community in between our weekly gatherings together. WOW. It is both exciting and challenging. In just the few days since we last met... only God knows. And you know what? That is enough!
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
This profound, personal affirmation by David is perhaps the most comprehensive claim ever made. As you go through your own journey these days, may this be your reality too!
Over the last few weeks, one of our valued staff members has had some major changes in his life. Lawton and Beth Jones are now in Atlanta! Really. Lawton wrote the note below to people whom he has served with over the last four years. As you can read, this was a great move for Lawton and Beth.
Dear Leadership Community,
Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I am an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. Both my wife and I are graduates of UGA, and that is where we first met during our freshman year.I made several close friendships during my time there that I have kept up with over the years. One of my former roommates is a Student Pastor in northeast Atlanta, and he shared with me about a pastoral role at his church that he thought I might be a great fit for.At that time I was not thinking about moving home, but through several conversations and prayer we have come to believe this is an opportunity that we cannot pass up.My wife Beth is pregnant with our first child, and this church is only a half hour from both of our parents. The chance to move home at this stage of our lives and join a church with similar passions to reach the least and lost with the gospellike Grace Fellowship is really exciting for us. In late May, I will be transitioning off staff at GFC to serve as the Spiritual Formation Pastor at 12 Stone Church at their Sugarloaf campus.
This decision is both exciting and sad for us as we have a lot that we will miss about Grace Fellowship and this community. GFC was my first full-time pastoral role, and you all have been so gracious and patient with me as I've learned what it means to serve as a pastor.Tom and Tim have been amazing mentors and friends to me, and the entire GFC staff and elders are wonderful people who love Jesus and love GFC. I count it an honor to have served God and our community here with them. Beth and I have truly been blessed by our friendships with so many of you in this church family. You made East Tennessee a true home for us.
GFC has played a huge part in shaping me into who I am. I will carry with me the passions of helping people take their next step in the Ultimate Journey and loving the least and lost in our own community. I firmly believe that God has big things in store for Grace Fellowship and the surrounding community. We are so grateful to have been a part of this faith family.
With true thankfulness,
A very quick departure due to housing deadlines has limited the opportunities to say good bye, so if you would like to contact Lawton and Beth, you can do so at email@example.com or via mail at:
