Monday Memo - June 16
"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time."
Summer is in full swing, and I hope you're able to take some time to "refresh" amid the new rhythms and routines of the season. As the quote above reminds us, rest is intended to be part of God's creation, and He has surrounded us with an abundance of beautiful settings nearby in which to do so. Speaking of "refresh," tonight is our second weekly gathering to enjoy some refreshments and a Bible story together. Join us at 6 pm in café to meet a few new friends and be encouraged by what you experience. It's a unique opportunity for spiritual refreshment, and I'm confident you'll be glad you came. You can find more information here.
I also hope you find time in your summer routine to go "texting." I never cease to be amazed at how much value is packed into even short texts of Scripture. Yesterday we looked at a brief poem written 3,000 years ago that expresses some profound thoughts about God and our very purpose as human beings.
Psalm 117 -
Praise the LORD all you nations;
Extol Him all you peoples.
For great is His love toward us,
And the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.
Praise the Lord.
There are little gems like this text all over the Scriptures. Each Sunday we will examine one of them and dig deep to discover what we can learn and apply. But don't wait until Sunday. Every day is a great day to "go texting"!
