Monday Memo - June 22
Greatly enjoyed being with you all yesterday! I'm so thankful that God has given us the great privilege of doing life together. Though it's not always easy, life really is better together.
"But God has so composed the body... that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together..."
1 Corinthians 12:24b-26a
When we embrace the reality that we're all connected, we share in the joy as well as the heartache of those around us. That's what we had an opportunity to do this past weekend as we remembered Robbie Oyler, Tom and Leslie's son who passed away 10 years ago this Father's Day weekend.
We've made Robbie's story and memory available through the form of a DVD / CD combo, and if you were unable to get a copy on Sunday, we will have more available this coming weekend at the resource center. I'm grateful that God has surrounded Tom and Leslie (and all of us who call GFC home) with such a loving and engaged community.
In other news, our community is growing with the addition of new Student Pastor, Preston Davis.
Preston is a Tennessee native, born and raised. He earned a B.A. in Christian Studies from Union University in 2010 and then pursued a Masters Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Since January of 2013, Preston has served as Pastor to Students and Families at Grace Community Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is a Razorback fan, but in time, he may see the light!
He has moved here with his wife, Lindsey, and their three boxer dogs: Achilles, Bandit, and Duke.
Preston actually started in his new role today, and we're excited to welcome him and Lindsey to our staff and community!
With a grateful heart,
Family Life Pastor
