Monday Memo - June 23
Yesterday we learned something in our TEXTING series that most likely was a surprise to many – that the famous evangelistic verse of Revelation 3:20 is not evangelistic at all! Here’s the verse:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with me.”
A careful study of its context reveals that this invitation from Jesus is given to believers, specifically to complacent believers who don’t really feel a need for God’s presence in their daily life.
It is really quite remarkable, when you think about it, that our Creator and Savior actually desires a growing relationship with each of us. What a game-changer it is in our lives when we open that door daily to share the adventure of each day with Him! As your summer unfolds, I encourage you to look for ways to invite and enjoy God’s presence….and avoid the error of taking a spiritual vacation.
We invite you to try out one of our Monday night REFRESH evenings starting off at 6pm with complementary refreshments in the café, followed by an hour of bible-storying as we encounter God’s word in a fresh and fun way. We’re seeing a great response to REFRESH and look forward to your being with us one or more of these Monday evenings!
Our new birth is not an end but an inception, for now begins the glorious pursuit, the heart’s exploration of the infinite riches of the Godhead. This is the beginning…there is no ending; for there is an awful and mysterious depth of the Triune God that has neither limit nor end.
- AW Tozer, The Pursuit of God
