Monday Memo - August 24
Four weeks ago, my friend was playing golf with his wife and very much enjoying himself. In fact, they both played well! Last night I sat with them on their porch talking about his stage four cancer and the hard "realities" they face. Yet we also laughed, "gossiped" a little about old friends, and shared with each other some truths from God's Word. How valuable God's truth is at such times! All of a sudden, when life makes an unexpected turn, His voice means everything.
We both made a connection to Paul's strong encouragement in Ephesians.
Stand firm, having girded your loins with truth.
If you missed Sunday's message, you may watch or listen here. We asked the question,
What might I be believing to be true that isn't,
and how is it affecting me?
That is a transformational question that I encourage you to ask and answer regularly... because we are always fighting for our lives... and it is an invisible war.
It was great to see 100 of our high school kids engaging with the truth Sunday night, and more people at re:generation on Monday night! You can find a group that is right for you online, or you may email Donna Simmons.
I would like to thank those of you who have been able to help with over and above giving in recent weeks. We have one week to go to meet our budget for the fiscal year. If you are able and desirous, please be sure your gift arrives by next Monday, August 31st. I look forward to celebrating God's provision with you!
Grace and peace,
P.S. Would you believe someone brought a bag of cash to the office yesterday containing over $32,000? She had been saving it regularly over time for the purpose of giving... and when she heard the need, she decided this was the time and place! It is not about amount as much as it is heart... and I believe this a gift well-pleasing to God!
