Monday Memo - September 28
TGIF. Hump Day. I'm livin' for the weekend! We do it... work that is... but why? Is it to pay the bills? Should we finagle our way through life seeking to do as little work as possible? Typically, one-third of our day is spent working, and another third sleeping. Have you ever asked, "What's God got to do with it?"
Work: What's God Got To Do With It?
That's the title of our next teaching series beginning October 11-12! You will notice that is a Sunday AND A MONDAY! Two weeks from today will be our first Monday night service, beginning at 6:30-essentially identical to the two Sunday services. This is a great subject and a great opportunity for us to invite people to check it out.
This weekend, Stuart and Jill Briscoe will join us. Together they will do a two-hour event on Saturday morning entitled Married for Life! Click here for more information. Then, on Sunday, Stuart will bring us a message from Scripture that will inspire and strengthen us all! It is a unique honor for GFC to host Stuart and Jill with us this weekend.
Yesterday, we wrapped up the series Fighting for Your Life. "In the Trenches," it was called. The crucial conversation between Paul and the elders in Ephesus provides dramatic insight into the fight at the local church level. Watch here.
I also shared the unwelcome news that therapists and doctors have agreed that Tim Bowers will not be able to return to work at GFC due to the stroke he suffered one year ago. Tim and Cheryl are very dear to me, and to our church. Our church is positively different since they arrived 15 years ago! This is hard news. The Bowers thank you for your prayers and support this past year, and are counting on the same as they face the future.
It is a fight. Let's all continue to stand firm in the Lord and in the strength of His might!
Grace and peace,
