It is Monday morning. By reputation, not the best of days. Whether it is Monday morning or Wednesday afternoon, the reality of our soul remains our constant companion. We use a lot of "things" and "experiences" to stabilize, and even alter our "mood."
But what are we looking for, hoping for? David, in Psalm 19, has some thoughts on what we really need.
restoration of our soul
simplicity of clarity
contentment and joy
insight and wisdom
Which would you say is most needful in your life these days? Monday, Wednesday, or any day? I might answer...all of the above!
Now take a look at the source of some greatly needed soul care. Psalm 19:7-10
The Law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
The precepts of the Lord right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes...
They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold...
Notice the repetition in the first half of each line... "the Lord."
Do you wonder how David came to such conclusions in his life? You might be surprised.
This Sunday we begin a new series of sermons called PURSUIT: DAVID A Man and His God.
I hope you make a priority of attending regularly and inviting a friend! Maybe we will all find the freshness of a life that is pursing God.
