Peru Team Update: June 14
On June 10th the Peru Ultimate Journey Team set out on their trip to our sister church in Lima. Here's an update!
It was another exciting day for team Peru! We went to the child center, PE-125, in the morning and divided the group into two teams to build two houses for Compassion families. The teams were called the Dragon Slayers and the Mountain Goats. The Dragon Slayers carried the walls of their house up steep rocks and steps. The Mountain Goats lowered their walls down a steep cliff, and carried them down a steep path and stairs. Although the houses weren't completed by our teams, they were finished by the end of the day by onsite workers.
We headed back to the center where we once again enjoyed an amazing lunch. The highlight of lunch was a fruit that we’ve nicknamed “booger fruit”. After lunch, VBS began with a presentation of the armor of God. We split into three groups. The little children made a replica of a boy/girl dressed in the armor of God. The middle group watched a science experiment that demonstrated how we are forgiven of our sins, and washed clean by the grace of God. The oldest group played octoball, followed by a familiar Peruvian game enjoyed by the children.
It was a challenging day, ending with proof of God’s never ending provision.
