Thing I wish I could change about myself: I get all kinds of sick and grumpy when I eat Gluten products. Not fun.

I was born and raised in Forth Worth, Texas. I grew up in an amazing home with two loving parents. I have one sibling, Anna, who is married and living in Fort Worth.

My mother led me to Christ when I was at the elder age of 5. We were on the way to my Great Aunt Kathy’s funeral, and my curiosity lead me to ask a lot of questions. My Mom took the time to walk me through the Gospel. I got the idea as good as a 5 year old could. I recognized my sin and my need for Jesus. However, it took about a decade for the relationship I have with God to become something I embraced. Over that next decade, several men invested in me, speaking truth and encouragement into my life. Finally, my Sophomore year in High School, God pulled on my heart in a way I hadn’t seen coming. I was fully invested into sports, specifically basketball. I played on several traveling teams and was consumed. Through some unique circumstance, God called me to give up basketball, resulting in a total lose of security. Through those next few months I lost a lot. Friends and mentors (specifically coaches) were disengaging me, and I got a lot of harassment for my choice. God had a plan though. Through that time I got involved in my local youth group in a major way. Twelve months later I was being discipled by an Elder of the church and discipling two younger men. From that point on God has continually confirmed in my heart a  passion for ministry. Countless stories over the next 5-6 years have confirmed to me that this is the direction God has put before me. That journey continued as God called me out to his neck of the woods: Lubbock, Texas. Through my years in West Texas, God continued to encourage me towards ministry. This ultimately led me to Dallas, Texas where I attended Dallas Theological Seminary.  Luckily for me, God didn’t intend for me to follow him on this journey alone. On June 25th, 2011, I married the love of my life, Catherine Elizabeth Horton.

About 6 months ago my wife and I had began praying for God’s next step in our life as I neared the end of Seminary. We had planned on waiting around 2 years before taking that next step, but God’s plan (thankfully) was sooner. Shortly after putting that on the radar, I received a call from Grace that began conversations that led us out to Johnson City, TN. We couldn’t be more excited to be joining Grace Fellowship and to begin a partnership with the families in this community to raise up a generation of students who hear, respond, and act on the Good news of the Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.
