Spring is Here!
The weather may not always tell us what is true about where we are on the calendar. March 20th is the official first day of Spring according to the orbit of our planet (and the decision of scientists many years ago). What we see and feel may agree with what is true, but sometimes we have to believe in spite of what our surroundings tell us.
Sound familiar? (If you’ve been following Christ for any amount of time, of course it does!) Following Christ often requires that we base our choices on faith – not by sight. Paul reminds us that though we live in earthly tents, “…we live by believing and not by seeing…” – our eternal house is in heaven, not built by human hands. (2 Cor. 5:1,7)
In my 20’s, I had a few mentors that spoke God’s truth to me at crucial times in my life. They would often simply ask, “Heather, what does God say?” That simple statement pointed me back to the truth for all of life found in God’s Word. After praying and searching, sometimes with their help, I’d find peace in believing what God says over what I saw and felt at the time. Today, when my circumstances or emotions threaten to tell me something that robs me of God’s peace, the thought that runs through my head now (or is asked by my wise husband) is: “What is truth here? What does God say?” If I’m faithful to pursue that question, I’m rewarded in time with God’s peace and clearer perspective for the path.
Regardless of what your life circumstances may tell you, God is in control and He is at work in your life today. The weather may look one way this season currently, but the truth remains that Spring is here and we have special things to look forward to in this season!

PLAY – Zumba!
Many of us have enjoyed the physical and mental benefits of moving our bodies this year! We’ll continue to “PLAY” together on Tuesday nights in Room 401 through April as we Zumba! Believe it or not, one regular participant said that Tuesday nights for her have become “a time for her to worship God” – we give God glory as we lay our burdens aside in humility and enjoy the gift of life He has given us. Also consider, as the weather warms up, asking another woman to walk outside with you and share life together as you get your heart rate up! See more at gfcnow.com/play today!
Let this Spring season be a time of renewal for you as you choose to build relationships with each other and reach out to others. Lord, we pray that our eyes would be open as we open our day up in Your Word. (Ps. 119:18) Would You show us great and wonderful things in it, and help us walk in light of Your Truth in spite of what may be storming around us today. (Matt. 8:24) In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen!
