Reset: A Grace Women Retreat
The past few months I’ve been on a journey of attempting to pursue more solitude. This picture is taken on the Balds at Roan Mountain on one such attempt. The experience was fraught with roadblocks and challenges and I almost abandoned the endeavor altogether. Fear nearly won out in the end so I had to document it with a picture to have proof that I persevered.
Jesus set the example for the need to “Come away by yourselves to a lonely place” (Mark 6:31…and Luke 5:16, 6:12, Matt. 14:23, 17:1-9, 26:36-46). If Jesus, in His divine nature, practiced solitude regularly, how can we deny its importance in our lives? Leaving behind the frantic busyness of our world for a few hours, frees our hearts and minds to recognize the voice of our Good Shepherd (John 10:27).
With these thoughts in mind, Grace Women is planning a retreat March 24-25, 2018 entitled “Reset”. This will be a time to come away for rest, refreshment and reflection with a smaller group (60+/- women), focusing on direction, goals, priorities, and finding deep community. Similar to our cell phones, we get too many apps running in the background of our lives and we need to shut the device off occasionally and do a “Reset”.
We’ll gather at Doe River Gorge on Saturday morning at 8:30 and make the Cedar Mountain Lodge our base. Worship will be a cornerstone of this time with a talented and thoughtful couple providing leadership for us. You’ll receive a journal with notes and directives for our time. Under the able instruction of trusted women in our fellowship, we will be guided in an experience of silence and solitude. No worries…a little fun will be thrown in there too. We’ll have you headed home before lunchtime on Sunday.

**Recognizing that for many of you this is a huge ask of your family, we’re planning a "pizza and play" event Saturday, March 24 from 5-7pm at Wallabies: $8/child. Dads are free.
