Sex, Singleness, & Other Stuff
“In the church, there is often an obsession with marriage, in which the nuclear family is normalized, married life is idolized, and single people are marginalized.” This quote by Andrew Wilson quote embodies the experiences of many people in the church when it comes to the subjects of singleness and marriage. On a subconscious (and sometimes conscious) level, marriage is held up in the church as the gateway to happiness and fulfillment. But the Bible does not share that view. 1 Corinthians 7 helps us right-size both marriage and singleness and shows us God’s true concern for both.
In this Sunday’s message, Matt reminds us to “Be where your feet are.” There is space for contentment in all phases and stages of life.
Prayer Points
- Pray that we (GFC) would be a church that champions both marriage and singleness
- Pray that your group would be where their feet are and invest yourselves fully in serving God in your present situation.
