You Need a Role Model
1 Corinthians 10:1-22
Twice in our passage in 1 Corinthians 10, Paul calls ancient Israel an “Example” for the Corinthian believers to learn from. In the verses at the end of chapter 9, he points to himself as an example. And when we turn to chapter 11, he begins by saying “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.” The impact of role models cannot be underestimated. Whether someone serves as a good or a bad example, we can learn from them. And, of course, the ultimate role model we have is Jesus Himself! Whether it is the question of eating meat offered to idols, or a moral compromise, our example is Jesus Christ. The question we must ask in our decisions and lifestyle is, “What honors the Lord?”

Prayer Points
1. Pray along the lines of Chuck Swindoll when he prayed “Give us an intense distaste for things that displease You and a renewed pleasure in things that bring You honor and magnify Your truth.”
2. Pray for those who are walking down the path of temptation, that they might “watch out,” trust the Lord for His way-of-escape, and enthrone Him as Lord in the practical areas of daily life.
