We Need Each Other

We all have hurts, habits, and hang-ups. We all face the pain of what life presents. We all need each other for support in difficult and trying times. You’ll find a variety of ways to receive the care and recovery you need.

If you have an urgent care need outside of our normal business hours, please call the church office, 423-928-5601, select option 3, and leave a voicemail.  A member of our pastoral care team will respond to you as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Re:generation is for all adults 18 and older. God’s steps of healing can free you from any addiction, struggle or hurt. Many people come to discover the source of their pain. You will always be welcome regardless of the struggle.

There is no cost for the program or to attend Re:gen. The only monetary fee involved is to cover the step study books. The Groundwork book is $15, and each of the 5-step study books is $15, for a total suggested donation of $90. Please do not let money be an issue. We will cover the cost if necessary.

At 6:30, we meet as a large group to worship and listen to either a teaching or a testimony of someone who has walked through his or her recovery. Afterward, a leader will announce that we are breaking into small groups. Newcomers will be directed to stay in the auditorium. On your second time at re:generation, you go to Groundwork. You will attend Groundwork for a minimum of 6 weeks, after which we will place you in a closed-step study group (small group). The whole program can be completed in as little as 12 months.

Once you get in a step study group, you will begin working through the step study curriculum, which is rooted in Scripture, incorporating the 12 steps. There will be approximately 8-10 people in your step study group. Your groups are typically formed with the people that arrived at re:generation around the same time you did and are separated by gender. Our groups are not issue specific. This is because we choose not to highlight the specific sin issue. Instead, we focus on why it is that we all sin.

Re:generation is a biblical 12-step process structured within the context of small groups. Your first couple of months will be spent in either a newcomers group (first week) or a groundwork group. Once you have completed the groundwork curriculum, demonstrated a willingness to participate and decided that you want to move forward, you will be placed into a step-group to go through the 12 steps. Step-groups have a set number of participants and leaders. Once a step-group is launched, no new members will be added. For the next 8 to 10 months, you will progress through the steps using the daily curriculum along with other step-group members. Re:generation is currently available for adults 18 and older.

Single Adults

Whether you’re grieving the loss of a marriage, the loss of a spouse, or the unfulfilled desire to find a helpmate, the Single Adult group is for you!

The Single Adult group at GFC includes lifelong singles, divorcées, widows, and widowers of any age. We have members in their young 30s through their upper 80s, but our “sweet spot” is probably in the 40s through 60s since many divorces happen at that age. It’s a great group, and we rally less around our age, and more around a mutual desire to grow in the faith, form friendships, recover, heal, serve, love, and have fun.

If you are interested, we host a Bible Study every Thursday from 6:30-8:00 in the North 1 Room (just inside the north/back entrance). We stay busy with social events too, with a hike, dance, meal, game night, concert, or something nearly every weekend. Once you stop by in person, we can get you added to our email list and our private Facebook group so you can be in the loop.

Contact Jamin Rathbun directly if you have questions about how to get connected.

Counseling

Want to Talk With a Professional Counselor?

We believe that all people are created in the image of God, and we function at our best in relationships with others. This is why we encourage every person at GFC to be a part of a group. Having said that, sometimes, we need specialized attention to work through more difficult seasons in life (such as the death of a loved one, trauma, depression, or anxiety). There are several counselors we recommend to individuals who need this type of care. These men and women share our philosophy of helping people through difficult times. You can contact them directly or fill out the Care form below, and we will get back to you.
