Echo Projects Spotlights

Time is running out to sign up for Echo! There are still several projects in need of volunteers. See below for an overview of a few available projects.

LXI

LXI serves over 90 urban youth in JC through sports, outreach, and discipleship.
Help them prepare for an upcoming outreach event by making desserts, or walking the neighborhood inviting families to the event, or work with the youth on renovating their building entrance area.

Appreciation Cards
Write appreciation cards to our city’s public servants. The card party includes writing/making cards for policemen, Mt View teachers, veterans at the VA and more. Card writing takes place at GFC. This is a great serving opportunity for anyone who would prefer to serve indoors! All ages welcome.

Ivy Hall Nursing Home
This nursing facility in Elizabethton would love for us to spend the afternoon visiting with their residents. Volunteers may bring homemade cookies to share, read Scripture or Bible story books to them, and assist with Bingo, or even bring their well-behaved pet. They LOVE dogs and kids!

Dawn of Hope
Dawn of Hope serves individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. This project takes place at GFC. The volunteers will be building flower planter boxes that will be later moved & installed at the Dawn of Hope facility courtyard. This is a part of an effort to spruce up their courtyard where residents spend a lot of their free time.

Mekkah’s Meadow Apartments
MMA provides housing for very low-income seniors. They would love for us to spend some time with their residents! Into the Fire has agreed to partner with us in helping provide a ceramics painting time, followed by a BBQ cookout. For the morning shift they need a small group to help paint a couple benches and plant some flowers.

Good Samaritan Ministries
Good Samaritan Ministries is a non-profit 501(c)(3) ministry founded on March 8, 1985 in Johnson City, TN and provides for the emergency needs of the poor, low income, homeless, individuals/families-at-risk, children, veterans and elderly populations through education, mentoring and social services. Projects available are exterior beautification and painting a multi-purpose room inside.
