Outside the Walls

Mountain View

Our partnerships with Mountain View Elementary School serves one of the most economically and educationally challenged areas of our city. These serving opportunities will change the lives of students, teachers, and families in our community.

A lunch buddy joins a student at their lunch weekly through the school year. 20 minutes a week can build a relationship that deeply encourages that child!  When: Lunch times vary per class and last about 20 minutes (September-May)

In the early fall, kickball coaches join up with Mountain View parents to lead teams. Other opportunities include serving meals and assisting with prep and set-up.  When: Tuesdays/Thursdays for 5 weeks in the fall.

This five-week program in late fall will walk a select group of students and their families through a hands-on arts program. Opportunities include project volunteers and meal servers.

  • When: Once per week for 5 weeks in late fall.

This new venture will introduce students to several team sports with a weekly practice and a meal. The clinic will run for 6 weeks. Opportunities include program volunteers and meal servers.

Echo

Echo happens once a year during the summer as a church-wide, family-friendly day of serving. This year, there will be several opportunities all around Johnson City as well as a fun on-site pizza lunch.

opportunities will be updated as we get closer to Echo and will likely include projects such as painting, fixing houses, cleaning public schools, etc.
