GFC’s New Women’s Ministry Coordinator: Carolee Morrison

I would never describe myself as a person who loves change!  It seems that change happens all the time though, if we like it or not. Facing change is not always a bad thing, sometimes change is exciting and fun because it causes us to head in a new direction and try new things.  It is almost always scary but usually good for us to be removed from our comfort zone because it forces us to trust God as we walk into the “unknown”.

Our family has attended Grace Fellowship Church since 1995; my husband and I raised our four kids in this church and we all have served in various areas over the years.  It was a thrill for me to join staff with Student Ministry in 2015 because I have always had a heart for teenagers.  It has been a real privilege to be a part of so many students’ lives and a joy to watch them begin to understand and grow in their personal faith.

While working with teenagers is one of the biggest parts of my job in Student Ministry, I also have the privilege of working with our small group leaders and interact with parents as well.   We have small group leaders of all ages and in various stages of life building incredible bonds of friendship in Student Ministry with each other and with students. I have also had the opportunity to chat with busy moms raising kids and know they are in desperate need of encouragement and friendship.  It has been incredibly fulfilling to see the inter-generational bonds develop between all these women that I care so deeply about.

Even though, as I said, I do not always love change I am very excited about the opportunity extended to me by GFC.  I have accepted the invitation to serve as the Women’s Ministry Coordinator.  I will continue to support Student Ministry focusing mainly on High School as I have done the past five years.  In addition to that role, I will be splitting my time, using some of my time coordinating groups and events for Grace Women’s Ministry.  The thing that excites me most about adding this role to my time here at GFC is the opportunity to meet many more women and provide opportunities for us to grow together!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who fall and has no one to help him up.”  My hope is that in the Women’s Ministry at Grace, women will connect and form friendships with others who, in the time of need will be there to help pick one another up. I know that is what I need, and I don’t think I am alone in that!
