GFC Community,

Mr. and Mrs. Incredible are arguing. Amongst other issues, they can’t agree on whether their son should be able to play sports in school, and in a heated moment, Mrs. Incredible yells, “It’s not about YOU!”

If I’m honest, I need to hear those four words every day deep inside my soul. Why? I forget. I so easily drift into a self-centered orientation to life. To be clear, it’s not that I shouldn’t enjoy my life or that God doesn’t want good things for me, but we’re called to follow a Savior whose self-declared mission statement was to serve others….

“…The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45

What we find, when we dare to follow the way of Jesus into sacrificial, self-giving love for others is that true, abundant life is waiting for us. After all, He said it would be so: “whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” Matthew 16:25

This month at GFC, we’re seeking to put our Love In Action as we PARTNER in what God is doing through local outreach organizations by serving. In particular, we want to invest in what God is doing through Good Samaritan Ministries to help provide food for families in need, and we want to explore how we can demonstrate love to the Mountain View School community in tangible ways.
