Leading Children to Live for Christ

On Sunday, November 25, nine families made the decision to publicly dedicate their children to the Lord. At GFC, we believe that when families dedicate their children, the resulting partnership between the family and the church can have a much bigger impact than either the family or the church can have alone. When the church and family partner together, the next generation can more effectively grow in Christ and God is ultimately glorified!

Before dedication day, the participating parents attend an orientation designed around the idea that the family and church partnership is vital. Parents learn about their own role in raising their children, GFC’s role in helping them in their parenting journey, and God’s grace that is always available during even the most difficult times of parenting.

On dedication day these families, along with their friends and others from the congregation, gather in the auditorium between the two Sunday morning services. The parents commit their families to a partnership with GFC as they seek to lead their children to live for Christ. More importantly, these parents commit their families to God, declaring in front of friends and the congregation that they will raise their children based on His guidance. The dedication closes with a prayer for the families that the commitment made will have an impact for generations to come.

The next Parent Child Dedication Orientation will be on Sunday, April 28, 2019, with the dedication service taking place on Sunday, May 12, 2019 (Mother‘s Day). If you would like to be part of the next dedication, simply sign up at gfcnow.com/dedication. You won’t regret the chance to accept God’s grace, and the support of the local church, as you raise your children.
