Meet Mike Anakwe – New GFC Staff Member

GFC has recently hired Mike Anakwe as the part-time Children’s Ministry Associate Director, for Elementary. We’ve asked him to introduce himself so that we can get to know him a little better!

Hey everyone, my name is MichaelAnthony Anakwe and I am pumped to be serving on staff at Grace Fellowship Church!

I am currently a  student at Milligan College but will graduate in May 2020. I will graduate with a Business Management major and Youth Ministry minor.

I am from Johnson City, and have lived here for the past 11 years. I came to Johnson City my 5th grade year and graduated from Mountain View (Go Turtles), Indian Trail, Liberty Bell, and Science Hill. Before Grace, I went to Boones Creek Christian Church for the past seven years.

During my time Boones Creek, the Lord has been shaping and forming me for ministry. My youth ministers have played an important role in my spiritual development, and because of that impact, I knew that I wanted to do ministry.

In high school, I began to volunteer a lot more with my church. I became a middle school small group leader and helped lead worship in the band. During the summers, I was a camp counselor at Camp ACC during the middle school weeks of camp. Throughout these ministry opportunities, I developed a love for ministry of kids of all ages and backgrounds.

During college at Milligan, I served on staff at Boones Creek as a Student Ministries intern, but during the summers, I was a Pine Cove Camp in the City counselor. Through camp, I got to see firsthand the need for the Gospel at all ages especially during the elementary school age. I went in thinking that I would be teaching them about the Gospel, but they taught me so much more than I ever thought that I could teach them. Through doing children’s ministry, I am able to see the world and the Gospel in a better way than before. I am extremely excited to be in this new role.

Come say hey to me at the Grace Kids K-4th grade area!
