The Pulse: The Heartbeat of GFC.
Building and Reaching… At Home and Around the World

At GFC, coming together as a local part of the body of Christ compels us to build a community and reach a community. That mission helps us make difficult choices about what we say “yes” and “no” to, as a church and in our ministry strategies. In our weekend worship service a few weeks ago, we celebrated Lois Martin’s contributions to our church community as she transitioned off our staff and into her next stage of life and work. Lois reflected on what it means to her to be part of building and reaching a community…

The programs have changed over the years, but our mission remains the same. We build this community with one another so that we can reach communities with the good news of life in Christ. It’s been such a privilege to be a part of the work of the church in our world these last 15+ years. Part of the joy in the work has been getting to know and work alongside amazing members of this body. There are hundreds of you that have gone on mission trips, sponsored children, shared your faith with your neighbors and coworkers, mentored youth, served at a non-profit; the list goes on and on. I’m humbled by the love of Christ I have seen at GFC – in our outreach partners serving near and far, yes, but also in the rest of you. We are all just everyday believers figuring out how to be a part of God’s work in the world. I’m grateful to have been a part of it all for a season.

I’m grateful for how Lois has been part of building and reaching, and I’m curious about how you will be involved, too. One excellent opportunity available right now is for you to join the Global Perspectives Class meeting at GFC on Tuesdays from 6pm-8:30. This class provides both information and inspiration about God’s mission to our world and how we can be part of spreading the influence of the Gospel. You can find out the details and sign up here.

However you are part of building and reaching, I hope you will continue being part of the Come Together series, focusing on the “one-another” aspects of following Jesus. You can catch up on the weekend service or share a video link with a friend or on social media here. Our series continues this Sunday at 9:15 and 11am onsite or whenever you are able to participate online. You don’t want to miss it!
