Dear GFC Community,
One of the best parts about the Christmas season is the songs. Unlike those misguided souls who listen to Christmas music pre-Thanksgiving :), now is the right time, in my humble opinion, to hear great lyrics like “let every heart prepare Him room.” We sang that line this past Sunday, and it’s a great prayer for all of us – individually and as a church – over the coming weeks.
One of the ways we’re seeking to do this is by embarking on a journey through the book of Luke! The first chapter of Luke is all about preparing the way for Jesus to enter into the world. I’ve been so encouraged and challenged already by what we’re learning together as a faith community! Don’t miss this coming Sunday as we look at one of the original Christmas songs, Mary’s song in Luke 1:46-55. There is something for all of us in her profound, heartfelt response to the good news about Jesus.
We are also exploring the Advent themes of hope, joy, peace, and love in a series of posts on the GFC blog. You can read the first one about HOPE, written by Jacob Bouvier, here. It’s a timely word for where many people find themselves right now.
I am so grateful to be a part of all that God is doing in and through this community with you…..
Merry Christmas!
Matt Murphy
