Encouragement for Parents on World Parent’s Day

Keep Learning.

No matter how much research you do, no matter how many books you read or classes you take, experience is always the best teacher. Sometimes the only way to really learn and know is by doing. Every stage of parenting is going to bring about a new set of challenges: pregnancy, birth, newborn, childhood, adolescence, etc. Keep learning and give yourself grace.

Perfection is a Myth.

There is no perfect parent. Every parenting technique is different, and kids have different needs! There’s no one-size-fits-all, “perfect” way to do it. No one is doing it perfectly and that’s perfectly okay. All you can do is keep trying and lean on the Lord.

Don’t Play the Comparison Game.

Even if you know that perfection is a myth, it can be easy to imagine that everyone else is doing it better than you are, especially when you see their highlight reel on social media. But that’s all social media shows: the best moments. It doesn’t show the late nights, frustrations, arguments, and tears. Everyone else is also figuring it out as they go. You’re not alone!

Find Your People.

Parenting is a huge task. Don’t go on this journey alone! Find a community that can support you and lift you up.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
