I’m sure you are well aware at this point of the devastating impact that last week’s flooding has had on our community. We’re still discovering the extent of the damage and many folks are reeling after unimaginable loss. Through your responsiveness, we were able to give 100 gallons of water to the Principal Mark Merriman of Lamar Elementary School yesterday to distribute to families in need, and we’ve collected another 200+ gallons of water that will be distributed soon.

In light of these events we are pivoting in our current local outreach initiative, Love in Action, to focus exclusively on relief efforts within Washington and Unicoi Counties for the month of October. Here are three ways you can get involved NOW:

  • GIVE: GFC’s building is serving as a donation collection point for items that will be used to help victims of flooding in Washington and Unicoi Counties. Bring these items by GFC this week and next, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm, and drop them off under the NORTH entrance portico. Click here to view the full list of needed items.
  • SERVE: Help accept and organize items that we receive, and personally distribute them to the places that need them. Click here to sign up.
  • PRAY: Utilize GFC’s online prayer wall to share prayer requests and/or needs that arise, and pray over the ones on the prayer wall.  gfcnow.com/prayer
AND come to GFC’s Main Auditorium this Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm for a time of praying for our community together.

By giving, serving, and praying, we really can demonstrate the love of Jesus to people who are incredibly vulnerable right now.
