February 7, 2022
Way back in 2019, we lived in a different world. No one had ever heard of COVID. Only bank robbers, catchers, and hockey goalies wore face masks. That year, we gratefully but also with some sadness, saw Malia Grant step away from our GFC staff team (after 17 years) to lead the local Ronald McDonald House. (Their gain was our loss.) I’m so thankful and pleased to let you know that Malia has rejoined our team to become our new Family Life Director!
As we began the search for a new leader to help GFC launch into the future to effectively partner with parents in shepherding the hearts of children to our Savior and to help students develop their own faith in Jesus, I sat down to talk with Malia and get her perspective on the type of person who would thrive in this role. Malia’s passion for the faith of children and students, her unique insights into family life dynamics, and her leadership ability and experiences made it clear that she was the right person for this crucial position. After careful consideration and prayer, Malia joyfully accepted this new challenge.
Every one of us is part of an ongoing, repeatable process that King David described in Psalm 145:4, “Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.”
At GFC, we want to be a church that reproduces faith and invests in the generations to follow us. We want to be a place where children and their parents walk through our doors and know that they belong…where students of every age build healthy relationships and develop authentic faith in Jesus. We’ve already begun planning together for the future, and I’m enthusiastic about what God will do through GFC for children, students, and families in our community. How will you be part of helping coming generations know and love Jesus?
Grateful for your partnership,
Titus
P.S. If you already know Malia, then you are as excited as I am about the future of family life ministry at GFC. If you don’t know her yet, we’re (re)introducing her in the weekend worship services; so, be part of the service on Sunday at 9:15, 11, or anytime at gfcnow.com.
