Some Things Never Change

Colorful leaves, crisp mornings, ripening apples – I thoroughly enjoy this season and some of the regular activities and traditions the fall season brings. In my family, we look forward to recurring fall activities like visiting an orchard, watching one of my favorites –Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and finding some pumpkins to bring home. This season may look a little bit different for many of us, but we also want to maintain actions that reinforce our values and contribute to our shared mission.

At GFC, we want to build a community and reach a community. While encouraging authentic and meaningful relationships with one another, we also desire to reach out to share the love of Jesus with others through service. I’m excited about a new opportunity for us to do just that in this particular season through a drive-thru family event,  Candy CARnival.

From 3-5pm on Sunday, October 25, families can dress up in their favorite costumes and drive-thru a series of stations to receive some treats and surprises. Click here to sign up to drive-thru with your family. (Because of limited resources and our system to maintain appropriate distance, right now this opportunity is available for families connected with Mountain View Elementary School and GFC by registration only.) If you would like to help by handing out treats, directing traffic, or donating supplies, you can find out how to do that here.

This is a simple, fun way to build up our community and use our resources and time to serve others as well. As enjoyable as changing seasons and change can be, it’s also comforting to remember that some things never change. We are still secure in Jesus’ love for us. We are still the church, and we are still building and reaching a community – together.
