GFC Meal Team

Demonstrating Love and Engaging Service

Two of our GFC Core values are being lived out well by GFC volunteers who participate in our GFC Meal Ministry! By DEMONSTRATING LOVE and ENGAGING SERVICE, volunteers are providing more than a delicious meal to someone who finds themself in a crisis, state of physical recovery, and or long-term treatment. Volunteers are offering their love, encouragement, and prayers. The gospel of John says.. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Serving Testimonials

I have loved participating in this ministry. I enjoy cooking for others and have been able to fit this ministry into my schedule. I like meeting the people I have served, and I have made new friends. My husband likes it too because he gets the same food I send! I would encourage others to help our team. We have partnered with Firehouse Barbeque, so if you don’t like cooking, you can order a meal there. There is also the option of giving a meal card so the recipient can order a meal through DoorDash. You will feel blessed participating in the Meal Train ministry. – Janet

Providing meals to folks with health concerns, post-surgery, etc., has been a privilege for us as a couple; it’s been a reminder of the joy we have in serving. We know that each time we’ve taken a meal, we have not only been a small part of encouragement to others in the faith community when they need it most, but we’ve also been living out what it means to be part of the body of Christ. It’s always a gentle reminder for us that the ability to be the folks delivering the meal is a gift! – Tommy and Connie

I can’t tell you what serving others has truly meant for me! I do not think hospitality is one of the gifts God has given me, but I can put together a meal and take it to someone who can heat it up and eat it! I am so grateful for this ministry. I always want to be able to show up for God in meaningful ways. What better way than the Meal Train! – Anonymous

The GFC meal ministry serves GFCers who are not part of a GFC community group but are going through a tough time and need the GFC community to come around them and support them. Those we serve express great thankfulness for the love and care provided to them, but it is the volunteer who receives the greatest blessing as we have the opportunity to bring God’s Light into someone’s day! – Debbie McNeill
