Dear GFC Community,
I hope that you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, filled with family time and gratitude for the countless men and women who have given their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy in our country. As we head into summer, we are shifting gears out of our study in Luke (temporarily… don’t worry, we’ll be back!) and exploring the wisdom of Ecclesiastes for June and July.
Ecclesiastes is one of the most surprising, raw, and honest books in the Bible. Written by a wise teacher who calls everything “hevel”—a Hebrew word meaning vapor, smoke, or breath—it invites us to stop chasing control, certainty, and lasting satisfaction in a world that refuses to give them. But this is not a book of despair. It’s an invitation to a grounded, God-centered perspective and joy. In the weeks to come, we’ll walk through the Teacher’s reflections on time, wealth, injustice, mortality, and meaning. We’ll wrestle with life’s tensions, embrace its limitations, and ultimately learn what it means to fear God and live wisely under the sun.
See you this Sunday!
Matt
P.S. We’re excited to once again host Pine Cove City, a day camp for Grace Kids and Mountain View Elementary students, June 23-27! There are many different ways to be a part of what God’s doing in the lives of kids that week by serving. Check out those opportunities and sign up here. |
