Becca Foxx Commissioned to Thailand

“I’m one of you now! Jesus knows my name!”
I’ll never forget those words. My “mama” in North Africa—this strong, kind woman who had taken me in like one of her own—spoke them to me one morning, her eyes filled with a joy I had never seen before. I had been living in her country for nearly two years. Her family had become my home away from home, and during one of their most sacred holidays, I lived with them for weeks. I watched her grandchildren bow and kiss their Quran, and I shared countless cups of tea with her daughter, who became more than a language helper—she became a friend.
And then, she became a seeker.
When she started asking questions, it felt natural to invite her to read the words of Jesus. And He met her there. She chose to follow Him. She chose to raise her children to know His name. But that decision cost her. Her mother—my mama—cut her off. Silence replaced what had once been so close.
But God wasn’t finished.
Months later, when the grandchildren began being stoned on their way to school for following Jesus, “mama” did what grandmothers do—she protected them. She brought them to her home in the village. And night after night, they told her stories about Jesus.
Fast forward nearly a year. I was visiting mama’s village before leaving the country. Everything felt normal—until one morning, she was up before me. Unusual in a culture that stays up well past midnight. I found her glowing in the kitchen. She looked like a woman who had been changed from the inside out.
And she had.
She told me Jesus had come to her in a dream. He offered her bread. He promised to give her everything she needed. And then—He called her by name.
That’s what undid her. That’s what made her say yes.
He knew her. He saw her. And in that moment, she stepped into eternal life.
When people ask why I do what I do—why I keep saying yes to this life of missions—this is the story I tell because Jesus is still revealing Himself. Because His love still transforms lives. Because there are mamas and daughters and grandchildren out there who have never heard His name, and He is patiently, relentlessly pursuing them.
My name is Becca, and I’ve called Grace home since 2007 when I was a student at ETSU, just trying to find my place in the world. Through some faithful people and life-changing trips to East Africa, God planted something deep in me. And in 2013, on a Grace trip to a refugee community in Georgia, I first learned about Unreached People Groups—whole communities who’ve never had a chance to hear the gospel. That day, everything changed.
In 2016, I moved to North Africa as a global partner. I spent several years overseas, watching God draw people into His family in the most unexpected and beautiful ways. And now, I’m preparing for the next chapter: moving to northern Thailand to serve as Global Fellowship’s Global Engagement Coordinator. In this role, I’ll be coming alongside missionaries around the world—especially those working where access to the gospel is scarce. I’ll be helping mobilize the global Church, supporting field workers, and inviting others to step into God’s mission.
It’s humbling and exciting—and honestly, a little daunting too. But through it all, God has proven Himself faithful. This journey has been a beautiful, messy, holy blend of challenge and joy. I’ve learned to rely on Him in ways I never imagined. And I’ve caught glimpses of His heart for the nations that have forever changed me.
