The Pulse: Works in Progress

January 11, 2022

One of my favorite things to tell my kids is that God has a plan for their life. It’s incredibly encouraging and comforting to know that our lives are significant in His eyes. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Not only are we each a work in progress, God has works in progress for each of us to participate in. He has a plan for our lives!

Often times, we think about these “good works” as applying to us individually, but one way of thinking about this reality is through a corporate or church lens (since a church is made up of individual people). God has prepared good works for us to walk in as a church community. And as we enter into 2022, I can’t wait to see what God has in store! I truly believe this year will be chock-full of amazing opportunities for us to experience and extend the transforming grace of God to others.

As we start into the year, as you are likely aware, our region is being impacted by the recent Omicron variant surge. Let’s be in prayer for those in our community who are experiencing illness as well as those providing care. Let’s also pray for one another. It’s easy to lose heart right now and take our eyes off of Jesus. Let’s keep seeking to be a people who “encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25)

I’m thankful to be a part of this community with you,

Matt

P.S. As a reminder, we continue to offer multiple ways to engage with GFC on Sunday Mornings. You can worship online, as many are doing right now. You can join in person in the Main Auditorium or the Student Center, our alternate venue across the lobby where there is extra room to spread out if desired. See you this weekend!
