Volunteer Spotlight
Ashley Forbes, Young Adults Leadership Team and Grace Hospitality
How long have you been volunteering in this role?
Young adults: around 7 months (since the beginning of August)
Hospitality: around 3 months (since the beginning of December)
How did you decide to get involved, and why did you choose this volunteer role?
I chose to get involved with GYA Leadership specifically because I really appreciated those who greeted me to Young Adults with open arms and made me feel welcome and loved and felt called to provide that welcoming, smiling face for others. For hospitality, Jacob mentioned that there was a need for volunteers, especially Young Adults, so I decided to begin serving there once a month as well.
What is your favorite memory from volunteering with GFC?
My favorite memory of volunteering would have to be handing out T-shirts at the Grace Young Adults kick-off night in August! It made me so happy to see so many young adults excited to be at church and having so much fun getting to know each other/fellowshipping with one another!
What would you say to someone who wants to get involved in a volunteer role?
To anyone who wants to get involved in a volunteer role, I say absolutely do it! No matter what your skill set is, there is a place for you on a volunteer team, and the bonds you make with the people you’re surrounded with are amazing!
