Volunteer Spotlight: Trista Green

How long have you been serving on the Hospitality Team, and what made you want to get involved?
I’ve been serving on the Hospitality Team for about three years. I knew I wanted to start giving my time back to the church. I was very nervous at first, but I stepped out in faith and trusted that God would lead me—and He truly has, far beyond what I ever imagined.
What does serving in hospitality usually look like for you on a Sunday?
Every Sunday can look a little different. Some days it’s offering a warm smile and a “good morning” at the door, other days it’s serving coffee in the café. I also love helping at the New Here desk—it’s such a blessing to see so many people beginning their journey and wanting to be part of what GFC has to offer.
Why is hospitality important to you?
You never know what someone may be going through. I believe my role in hospitality is to show love through a smile and help everyone feel welcomed and valued in God’s church.
What’s been one meaningful or memorable moment while serving?
Helping with Joy Prom each year is incredibly meaningful to me. The smiles, hugs, and pure joy are so rewarding and stay with you long after the event is over.
How has serving impacted your connection to the church?
Through serving in hospitality, God has not only made my calling clearer, but also given me a church family and friendships I never could have imagined.
What do you enjoy most about serving on this team?
The warm smiles—both the ones you give and the ones you receive.
What would you say to someone considering serving in hospitality?
Do it. It may turn into something far more meaningful than you ever expected—just like it did for me.
