New GFC Staff: Meet Drew Shattuck!

Tell us about what brought you to GFC!

My wife Lisa and I arrived in Johnson City in October of 2022 from Connecticut. We had been thinking about moving out of the Northeast for some time and COVID allowed us the opportunity. As we were moving in, our neighbor came over and told us about Grace Fellowship Church.

What does the Director of Finance and Human Resources role include at GFC?

This position covers a wide range of responsibilities across the organization, from overseeing payroll and giving to creating and monitoring budgets and expenses. On the HR side, I will be assisting employees with maintaining their benefits and making sure new employees are able to access the various systems and understand the processes we follow.

Why is working in ministry important to you?

I heard it once said, “Jesus is enough of a stumbling block to those who don’t know Him; we don’t need to add anything to their road.” Ideally, Finance and HR should function unnoticed in the background, but they underpin and support the ministry of the church in a fundamental way.

What part of GFC or this role excites you most?

I am excited as I begin by the opportunity to come along side staff and leadership and support them as we all pursue Jesus.

What do love most about GFC?

Definitely GFC’s involvement in the community, meeting people where they are.
